Streszczenie:This research aims to determine a methodology for control and monitoring during the execution phase of a sanitary sewer project, under the guidelines of one of the most recognized standards worldwide in the area of project management . Bibliographic research and analysis on the guidance of two of the most widely disseminated standards at international level determined that the PMBOK (2013) guide is the one that best applies in the direction of a construction project, as it presents an application guide Specific for each phase of the project, offers the best management practices, using different techniques and tools. In Ecuador, sanitary sewerage projects are the responsibility of local governments. Therefore, within a public administration, these projects are executed under criteria of success that enable them to fulfill their objective of providing quality services that guarantee the wellbeing of Its users, citizens. This control methodology establishes the processes to be followed and the use of tools for an adequate management of the supervision of works by the professionals that make up the Departments of Local Government Control as an improvement to the processes of monitoring and control in the Construction of sanitary sewerage projects, which reduces the likelihood of increases in cost, time and quality deficiencies whose impact directly affects the welfare of the community.
