Riassunto:This research work was developed with the purpose of identifying the resilient individual protective factors in a patient diagnosed with diabetes. Such research is framed under the theoretical foundation of the positivist Psychology. The methodology used is of type narrative, qualitative and descriptive, which made it possible to expand and successfully completing the research. We used bibliography database updated scientific and psychological instruments and strategies such as: History personologica, semi-structured interviews and the scale of resilience of Wagnild & Young Argentine version. The results show a moderate level of resilience and autonomous qualities in the patient, including: self-control, self worth, sense of humor, optimism among others. In addition, it was found resistance, high level of self-esteem, perseverance, joy, emotional intelligence. On the basis of which it is concluded that the qualities, skills and personal skills of the patient with diabetes, promote adherence to the pharmacological treatment, in if to deal with optimism the complications specific to their disease, thus improving the mental health of the patient, and hence their quality of life. It is therefore recommended that, perform psychological interventions aimed at generating internal skill resilient in the patient that will enable you to continue facing the difficulties that caused your illness.
