Resumo:At the present time Geographic Information Systems are of utmost importance in many fields, whether for planning or solving a problem. The development of a georeferenced database of the various levels of elements found in the soil and are essential for plant nutrition, we can help you plan and track in order to make better soil management. By processing and interpretation of test results could determine the current status of the soil and the programs are unable to process the data and create maps which are more illustrative and explanatory. The objectives were: General Objective: To apply the tools of Geographic Information Systems for mapificación the degree of soil fertility Atahualpa Canton. Specific Objectives: 1. To determine the degree of soil fertility by texture analysis, pH, organic carbon, organic matter, cation exchange capacity, Ca + +, Mg + +, K + and Na + exchangeable, N, P, K and complementary Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn. 2. Develop through GIS maps texture, fertility, pH, organic carbon, organic matter, cation exchange capacity Ca + + , Mg + + , K + and Na + exchangeable, N, P, K, Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn Atahualpa canton. The study area, politically, is located in the province of El Oro, Ecuador, the canton has 276.81 km2, or approximately 4.83% of the total area of the province, the limits are: to Pasaje north and Chilla cantons on the south by the canton Piñas on the east by the canton Zaruma and west by the Santa Rosa. Protocols for soil analysis were: for OM, Walkley and Black; for mechanical analysis, Bouyucus; for CEC, Formaldehyde; for exchangeable bases, macro and micronutrients, atomic absorption spectrophotometer; and pH, conductometer. We obtained the following conclusions: Canton soils have a moderate level of fertility. The textural class that dominates the Canton soil is Sandy Loam. The content of organic matter, and therefore the nitrogen are irregular. The CEC in these soils is medium. The levels of exchangeable calcium and magnesium elements are very high, while those of sodium and potassium are low. Nutrients and had an irregular distribution of varying concentrations. Soils tend to acidity.
