Beskrivelse
Summary:At the site Pagua, Guabo canton, it was carried an essay related with the control of monilla in cocoa plantations, within a farm planted with the clon CCN-51, six years old approximately, with the following objectives planned: 1.-To evaluate the methods, cultivar and chemistry, for the control of monilla in cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) at Pagua site; 2.- To determine the more effective method for monilla control; 3.- To make the economic analysis of studied treatments. The treatments analyzed were as follow: T1 maintenance pruning; T2 manual collection; T3 systemic fungicide; T4 protectant fungicide and T5 witness. These treatments, especially fungicides, were applied with a monthly frequency. The evaluated variables were: number of floral activated bulbs; number of ear in plants; percentage of incidence of monilla; weight, length and diameter of ears and yielding per hectare. A number of 10 plants per treatment were evaluated at random, with a counting of bulbs in all main branches from soil level until 1.5 m of heitht. The essay was adjusted in a design of blocks at random with 5 treatments and e reapplications. The statistic analysis of variance did not show a significant statistics for the variables number of ears per plant and evaluation periods for weight, length and diameter of ear. Only in the case of percentages of infection with monilla, it was found high significance for treatments, which proved that the cultural control consistent of maintenance pruning, weekly collection of infested fruits and the application of systemic or protectant fungicides, it was reached the target of reduce the infection and increase the production in approximately 20 %.
