| Yhteenveto: | For many years limb prostheses have been used to solve motility problems in patients who have been amputated or who have been born with a deformity, amputations in animals are very frequent in veterinary medicine, because when there are bone-level trauma the most important thing is to save The life of the patient who in many cases can reach the total or partial loss of the affected member which makes the animal be seen as disabled or sometimes becomes a burden for the family where he lives, and the consequences of this type Of surgical procedures can affect the joints and cause bone deformities in the patient due to the imbalance caused by the amputation of a member, more so if it is in the anterior part of the body since in the canines most of the weight falls to Its anterior extremities. A prosthesis is an artifact, mechanical, electrical or hybrid capable of partially or totally replacing a lost limb and fulfilling the functions of it, in veterinary medicine little studies are done in small species thus having a problem that has not been solved in The present time in the environment in which we live, for that reason, the objective of this study realized in the Technical University of Machala, was to construct a prototype of canine prosthesis applying 3D technology that allows us to realize a model at low cost and that complies with the Conditions of a prosthesis helping the patient to return his daily life and avoid the complications that an amputation brings. The main objective of this research was the design and construction of a prototype of prosthesis applying 3D technology capable of improving the quality of life of an amputated patient and at a lower cost than commercial prostheses. The investigation was carried out in a 3-month-old canine patient, who had an amputation in her left anterior extremity at the radius and ulna level, a trial period was performed to assess her quality of life for 30 days on a base To the following conditions, pain, biomechanics, independence, aesthetics. After this, based on these needs, a prosthesis with adaptability to the needs of the canine patient was designed and developed and the quality of life characteristics were evaluated for a period of 30 days with the prosthesis. Comparative survey on the prototype Utmach-mai in relation to a commercial based on the parameters cost, adaptability, flexibility, ease of purchase, accessories and spare parts. A prototype prosthesis called Utmach-mai was developed using materials such as PLA and Nylon for its construction, which consists of 5 pieces that took 7 hours to be printed on a Dowell 3D printer and has a value of $ 70 dollars. The evaluation of the quality of life of the patient without prosthesis was determined to be low, while the quality of life was considered high after the prosthesis was applied, and the prototype prosthesis developed in this research has a significant difference In relation to commercial prosthetics because it is economical with a cost of 70 dollars while the average of a commercial prosthesis is 900 dollars, likewise the flexibility, adaptability to the patient of the prototype 3D is better because it makes to measure Of the patient showing better results when evaluated against a commercial prosthesis. The use of the Utmach-mai prosthesis is recommended because it presents great results in the patient studied improving the quality of life of the same and offering a product at a lower cost at the commercial level, we can also recommend the use of 3D technology in the field Veterinarian as it could help solve some of the problems for him doctor in everyday life. |
