This research was aimed to determine the feasibility of a business for processing and marketing of dried fruit snacks in Machala city. Global consumption trends revolve around products and services that provide healthier living standards. Additionally the rise of nutritious food easily accessible, easy to use and low price are taking the markets. Processing technologies and food preservation have helped to generate a variety of products that make use of highly perishable food such as fruits and vegetables easier and more practical. This research showed that there is a niche market for the consumption of dried fruit snacks, potential consumers would be concentrated in the centers of secondary education in the urban area of Machala city. The technical feasibility studies determined the location of the enterprise in the industrial development of Machala where there are facilities to rent warehouses for processing various agribusiness products. The capacity production is based on the effective demand of the product offered, ie 200 kg / day of dried fruit, the product is a combination of papaya, banana, mango, macadamia nuts, raisins and peanuts salted in polypropylene bags with stamp and company brand containing 75 g of product in each bag. The production technology is craft and follow the regulations proposed by FAO for this activity. The financial feasibility studies indicate that entrepreneurship is feasible to perform. The results of the economic and financial evaluation indicate that the investment is likely to perform. |
