Zusammenfassung:On year 2006 and during the winter period, at Santa Ines Farm, Tech-nical University of Machala, it was carried out an essay in order to enhance the flowering period of mango trees, Keitt variety, which form part of a collection with approximately 15 years old.The planned objectives were: 1.- To induce the flowering in mango trees with the application of Ethrel before the natural period. 2.- To determine the more appropriated dose of Ethrel for the emergence of flowers in pruned mango plants. 3.- To emit valid and opportune in-formation for the students and farmers about the mango flowering in Machala area. The researching process was started with pruning on February/06 and the application of Ethrel in programmed dosis to 8 trees of the Keitt variety. The treatments analyzed were 3 doses of the phytohormone Ethrel, 60 ml, 80 ml and 100 ml per plant in an aspersion volume cali-brated for each plant. The following variables were studied: time of pruning, days at flower-ing, percentage of flowered panicles, growth of leaves, growth of pri-mary panicles, number of flowers per panicle, size of fruits, fruits per panicle and fruits per plant. The mathematic model used for the analysis of results corresponded to a Design Completely at Random with different number of observa-tions per treatment. The effects produced by Ethrel, generated from Ethylene, were showed in a retard of flowering for three months, as related to the absolute witness. The percentage of flowered panicles was superior in trees especially treated with the low dose, as compared to a witness with only 23% of flowered panicles. The variables foliar growing, length and wide of leaves as well as panicles, were adjusted to a linear growing model, where the rates of growing were significant in each treatment, supported by high correlation coefficients upon 0.94.The growing was fast in a short interval of two weeks, but it was het-erogeneous in 3 selected branches for evaluation. These results were coincident as pointed out by the scientific literature on the phenology of mango cultivars, under very defined climate conditions, similar to the monzon climate of the areas where comes from this specie. As related to size of fruits, there were obtained significant responses among treatments, but not in the average weight of them: the produc-tion per tree corresponded to the treatment Ethrel 60 ml/plant with 320 fruits with an increase of 80.9% as compared to absolute witness.
