The case studies were given a test using a microscope which was done as follows: using a cotton swab soaked in glycerin, enough sample was collected from the ear and was placed on a slide, making small circular movements. Finishing this process, another slide was placed on the sample to finally be taken to the microscope where it was observed with a 40 x lense. This way it was determined the appearance, or absence of mites. In the animals examined, a high presence of positive cases was found, which was a total of 53. This indicates that canines in this "cantón" are more prone to be affected by this illness because of the parasite being highly contagious. Statistically Factors Age and type of ear, did not significantly influence the prevalence of canine Otoacariasis Machala City. |

Los Objetivos de este trabajo fueron: 1. Determinar la tasa de Otoacariasis canina a nivel de clínicas en la Ciudad de Machala. 2. Establecer la presencia de Otoacariasis de acuerdo a la edad y forma de la oreja (Raza). Se tomaron 120 casos con afecciones en el oído, los mismos que se les realizó un examen al microscopio el cual se lo hizo de la siguiente manera: se tomó un hisopo seco o embebido en glicerina, y se colectó el material, obtenida la muestra se la colocó en un portaobjetos, luego se realizó ligeros movimientos en círculo, terminando este proceso se puso sobre la misma el cubre objeto para finalmente ser llevada al microscopio donde se observó con un lente de 40x y de esta manera se determinó la presencia o no de ácaros. En los animales examinados se encontró una alta presencia de casos positivos a otoacariasis lo que corresponde a un total de 53 casos positivos, lo que indica que los caninos de este cantón están propensos al ataque de esta enfermedad por el rápido contagio del parásito.
