| Summary: | Abstract: Ecuador is one of the countries in Latin America that has one of the highest rates of social inequality in the region, occupying the 89th place compared to 188 countries in terms of human development, which reflects its instability in different situations, such as: food insecurity and higher mortality rate. Over the years the poverty index has been measured using the income indicator and more recently by unsatisfied basic needs, however these two ways of measuring social inequality have isolated important factors within the emergence of a country. This research seeks to give a new perspective to the way of measuring social inequality, including multidimensional poverty through the construction of a synthetic index, we will count on the data provided by the employment and unemployment surveys obtained through the INEC. the year 2007 and 2014 and in this way to be able to make comparisons between years to verify the hypothesis that social inequality measured by unsatisfied basic needs has decreased in the different regions of Ecuador. |
