Prevalencia del síndrome metabólico en el personal femenino docente y administrativo del área Biológica de la Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, sede Loja, año 2017

Abstract:The present research aimed to determine the prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome in the teaching and administrative staff from UTPL´s biological área. A cuantitative, descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study was performed. The universe consisted of 107 women, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, the form and laboratory tests were applied to 62 women, 45 teachers 17 administrative staff. Results were tabulated and coded in the EXCEL software version 2016, and the analysis was performed in SPSS software version 24. The prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome was 6,5% using the ATP III, in the teaching staff the prevalence was 6,7% and in administrative staff was 5,9%. Abdominal obesity, triglycerides >150mg/dL and cHDL <50mg/dL were the most prevalent criteria with 46,8%, 33,87% and 16,13%, respectively.
