Description
Summary:Abstract:In the present research traces of cadmium and mercury were monitored from people who were related to the mining field. In order to raise awareness among the population of the health risks that may be caused by the misuse of heavy metals. An informative talk was held with the purpose of protecting the participants who collaborated with this research. Trace monitoring of heavy metals was carried out by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry with cadmium flame; and mercury was determined with hydride generator. Traces of cadmium and mercury were monitored by collecting three times the biological sample, in an interval of 30 days; Variations in the values resulting from each harvest were observed. Finally, the values were identified through analysis of variance, ANOVA and compared with reference values established by the World Health Organization and Criteria for the Surveillance of Workers Exposed to Hazardous Chemical Substances; the same ones that showed values within the limit established for cadmium, while for mercury values higher than those allowed were observed.
