Description
Summary:The topic of this research is A DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS OF ANGLICISMS USED IN ECUADORIAN MAGAZINES which has the objective of determining if there are Anglicisms – words which people use from other languages adapting to their native language – used in Ecuadorian magazines. In order to do this research, it was necessary to collect three types of Ecuadorian Magazines – Cultural, Scholarly and General Interest Magazines – published during 2009 and 2010. Therefore, it was essential to visit different places such as libraries and bookstores in the city of Ambato and Quito to get all of the magazines. After that, it was useful to skim through all these magazines in order to identify the Anglicisms that are in each magazine according to different articles. The underlined and note taking techniques were used to select the Anglicisms which were found in the magazines. These words were copied in three different tables according to each variable in order to identify the Anglicism, the lexical category, the word repetition number and the example that shows the use of the word in the Spanish context.
