Summary:The steps involve a computer simulation project is addressed in the present study. The tool used is the computational fluid dynamics. The ANSYS software in the version 14.5 integrates a robust package CFD. The CFX module was used to solve the flow field. The study began with the idealization and Description of the hydraulic model of the gravitational vortex system. It continued with the study of the methodology used by the ANSYS CFX software for solving flows field. Finally the hydraulic model of the gravitational vortex system underwent simulation in CFX module. The aim is study of the formation of the vortex and the main characteristics of the flow. The project was performed in the hydraulic laboratory of the department of Civil Engineer of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. The present study is the first project under simulation in the ANSYS software in the mentioned institution. A uniform vortex was obtained. The geometry of the gravitational vortex developed in the laboratory was suitable.
