Analysis of the situation on the interest in agricultural studies in ecuador [Análisis de la situación sobre el interés en los estudios agronómicos en el Ecuador]

This research work contributes to the knowledge of the reality of Higher Education in Ecuador, especially in the agronomics field in order to fulfill the mission raised by UNESCO (1998) at the World Conference on Higher Education which is to "contribute to the sustainable development and the improvement of the whole society, through the formation of responsible citizens,.. through programs adapted to the present and future needs of society, evaluating the relevance of higher education, depending on the fit between what society expects of institutions and what they do; and, to expand and strengthen the links between higher education and the world of work and other sectors of society, due to the changing socio-economic context and the emergence of new production models". An analysis of the situation of Agronomic Studies in Institutions of Higher Education of Ecuador, formed by universities, polytechnics and technical colleges and Technological institutions with categorization "A" and "B" according to the National Accreditation of Universities made by CEACES (2013) was presented trying to give an answer to the lack of interest of undergraduate students in pursuing studies in the field of agronomy.
