Summary:This research is about the influence of large classes in the English language teaching-learning process in Ecuadorian high schools. It was carried out to analyze main aspects related to academic aspect, social aspect and psychological aspect that hinder the English language teaching-learning process. With that purpose, one high school was selected in Machala city and the participants were students, two classrooms from 8th grades two classrooms from 9th grades and one classroom from 10th grade of high school respectively. The methods used in this research were quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative because it made possible to obtain accurate information, explain the relationship among variables, and interpret the data using statistics. The qualitative research for exploring and understanding the phenomenon. Also, for interpreting the gathered information. The results of this study show that the factor that affect large classes are: big number of students per classroom, lack of skills in managing learning, class size, classroom space, and different levels of proficiency. This means that teachers work in overcrowded classrooms and they neither manage learning correctly nor use English language for motivating students to learn in a good way.
