In order to get this objetive, a hierarchical linear model of two levels was used. The first level contains the individuals and their individual characteristics, and the second level contains the regions. The results show that skilled human capital is not randomly distributed in the regions, and this significantly affects income inequality. In this sense, the need arise to propose policies of individual and spatial equity, in order to contribute to the reduction of the spatial concentration of skilled human capital in Ecuador. |

In this sense, the need arise to propose policies of individual and spatial equity, in order to contribute to the reduction of the spatial concentration of skilled human capital in Ecuador.El objetivo principal de la presente investigación se basa en examinar el efecto de la concentración espacial del capital humano calificado en la disparidad regional de ingresos a partir del año 2003 al 2012, utilizando los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Empleo, Desempleo y Subempleo del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (ENEMDU) y bajo el enfoque teórico del spatial labor sorting, el cual sugiere que la distribución heterogénea del capital humano sobre el espacio puede explicar una parte relevante de la desigualdad total. Con el fin de cumplir este objetivo, utilizamos un modelo lineal jerárquico de dos niveles, en el primer nivel constan los individuos y sus características individuales y en el segundo nivel constan las regiones. Los resultados muestran que el capital humano calificado no se distribuye aleatoriamente en las regiones y esto afecta significativamente en la desigualdad de ingresos.
