Assessment of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the rhizosphere of Cedrela montana along an Andean elevational gradient

Rhizosphere soil samples were taken from individuals of Cedrela montana along an elevational gradient in the northern Andes. The abundance of spores and the frequency of infection by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) were analyzed considering the elevation and edaphic factors. The spores extraction...

description Rhizosphere soil samples were taken from individuals of Cedrela montana along an elevational gradient in the northern Andes. The abundance of spores and the frequency of infection by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) were analyzed considering the elevation and edaphic factors. The spores extraction was determined by the sieving technique and their count by stereoscopy; the frequency of infection, by clarifying with KOH and staining with trypan blue. The abundance of spores was positively correlated with the elevation of the study sites, while the frequency of rootlet colonization was not affected by elevation. Spore abundance was marginally affected by edaphic factors. On the contrary, mycorrhization by hyphae, vesicles and arbuscles showed an important influence of edaphic conditions, highlighting P, K and pH, and where elevation continues to be an important factor.

Ecuador...opendoar:102842024-04-24T14:25:45Repositorio Universidad Yachay Tech - Universidad Yachay Techfalse
