Sumario:The purpose of this investigation was to morphologically identify the causal agent of black pod in cocoa in the cantons of Quinindé and Calceta, as well as to evaluate the pathogenic, cultural and in vitro sensitivity behavior of isolates of Phytophthora spp from the cantons of Quinindé and Calceta. This research was carried out in the Molecular Biology laboratories at ESPAM - MFL, Calceta - Ecuador. Symptomatic fruits were collected in Calceta and Quinindé respectively, for the identification of the pathogen the strains were isolated and observed under the microscope, where the main structures of the pathogen such as sporangia and chlamydospores attached to the mycelium were visualized, pathogenicity and aggressiveness were performed of the strains obtained where it was corroborated 2 and 3 days after inoculation, the Quinindé isolates were more aggressive compared to the Calceta isolates, the fungicides (Carboxin-Thiram, Mancozeb-Cymoxanil, Mancozeb-Metaxyl and Metalaxyl), employed in the in vitro sensitivity test controlled the growth of the pathogen, in the cultural characterization test the strains with the highest growth were those sown in Agar Carrot culture medium for both cantons, the cultural patterns that were presented in the cultural characterization test They were arachnoid in the EMA, PDA, SDA media and crashed in AZ.
