要約:In order to determine the effect of the application of equine chorionic hormone (eCG) on the reduction of the number of dead embryos during the embryonic stage and increase the pregnancy rate in cows of the Girolando breed, an investigation was carried out in the “Hacienda Manantiales del Rocío S.A,” located in Montecristi canton. Manabi province, Ecuador. Two groups were formed, a control without application and a treatment with application of 400 IU of eCG at 20, 30 and 40 days after FTAI. The insemination protocol was similar in both treatments. Each experimental unit consisted of a Girolando cow. 29 animals per treatment were evaluated. Pregnancy percentage and serum progesterone levels were determined at 30, 40 and 50 days after FTAI. The costs of applying the treatment were also considered. Comparisons were made using the t-Student test for independent samples and for paired samples, depending on the nature of the data. The application of the eCG hormone had no significant effect on the number of dead embryos during the embryonic stage or on serum progesterone levels. The application of eCG hormone generated a pregnancy rate of 65.5% in the 30 days post-IATF, which was reduced to 62.1% at 50 days post-IATF, statistically similar to the reduction in the control treatment. The cost of applying the eCG dose was US$4.16.
