Özet:With the purpose of reducing the level of infestation of the Varroa destructor mite in Apis mellifera bees through the use of acaricides, this research was carried out in the Mi Reina apiary located in El Junco community, Charapotó, Manabí. The experiment was carried out using a completely randomized design with four treatments and four repetitions, which corresponds to 16 hives and the respective statistical model for data analysis. The treatments evaluated were amitraz, 60% formic acid, oxalic acid in strips and oxalic acid in syrup. The investigation procedure was carried out in two stages: the first to determine the percentages of initial infestation of V. destructor in A. mellifera and in the second stage to determine which acaricide had the greatest control. The initial infestation percentages varied between 6.32 to 9.54% where no significant differences were shown, once the acaricides were evaluated, the final infestation percentages were determined, which varied between 1.10 to 11.86% showing significant differences, based on these records it was shown that amitraz had the highest effectiveness with 88.47% being almost similar to oxalic acid in syrup that achieved 71.33%, unlike oxalic acid in strips and formic acid at 60% that were less effective with values of 39.18% and -18.48% . It is concluded that the most effective treatment to control V. destructor is the use of the contact acaricide amitraz prepared in a solution of 2 mL of the product in 2 liters of water.
