Within the framework of this project, a research study was conducted on how Kichwa-speaking mentors use bilingualism and how this favors the teaching-learning process of reading and writing in bilingual contexts. The results of the study reveal three strategies for the use of bilingualism as part of the teaching-learning process of reading and writing: literal translation, communicative bilingualism, and linguistic exclusivity. |

Este proyecto, con una duración de dos años, tenía como objetivo formar aproximadamente 50 docentes preseleccionados para dar acompañamiento a docentes de aula en zonas rurales o urbanas periféricas para mejorar la enseñanza-aprendizaje de lectura y escritura en los primeros grados de Educación Básica. En el marco de este proyecto, se investigó cómo los y las mentores kichwa-hablantes hacen uso del bilingüismo y de qué forma esto favorece el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de lectura y escritura en contextos de bilingüismo.
