| Tóm tắt: | Public policies on higher education in Ecuador aim to consolidate a transversal intercultural model within the university sphere. This article analyzes the incorporation of interculturality in teacher training within the Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB) program, based on a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study that assessed student perceptions using a Likert scale. The results show a positive correlation between discourse and observed intercultural practices (r = 0.706; p = 0.0), underscoring the importance of recognizing diversity and collective knowledge in community building. However, essentialist approaches were identified, which reduce interculturality to ethnic content, thereby limiting its transformative potential and reinforcing stereotypes. It is concluded that it is necessary to promote a critical and transformative interculturality that fosters the dialogue of knowledge and values diversity in all its forms. |
