Description
Summary:This study sought to diagnose the current situation of the tourism resources that make up the natural and cultural landscape of fine-cocoa-related destinations in Manabí. We developed a methodological approach to determine the potential of all components within the tourist offer design in the province. The situational diagnosis, as an initial stage for designing agrotourism offer, considered background literature related to similar studies carried out in Ecuador, fine cocoa farm classification, description of geographic location of potential areas and destinations, and the assessment of natural and cultural resources associated with the tourist circuit. We used different methods, techniques and tools such as observation, document compilation, interviews and cartography. The diagnosis of resources forming natural and cultural landscapes is the foundation for designing a tourist circuit, selecting routes, destinations, and for describing possible future experiences.
