Zusammenfassung:Agricultural production is one of the activities with great economic importance in the countries of South America. Manabí, province of Ecuador, stands out as an agricultural producer, contributing significantly to the national economy. However, agriculture also generates a large amount of waste, which poses environmental and sustainability challenges. Within this context, the present study seeks alternatives to revalue this agricultural waste instead of disposing of it, through a methodology that includes analysis of historical production data, estimation of the amount of waste generated and literature review to identify possible uses. The results reveal a constant increase in corn (Zea mays) production in the last decade and stability in other crops. Corn stubble and oil palm foliage (Elaeis guineensis) stand out as the main waste for the arable crops analyzed. The literature review suggests various applications for these wastes, such as animal feed, bioenergy, and biobased chemicals. The importance of adopting sustainable methods for the transformation of this waste is highlighted, through different processes that allow promoting sustainable development in Manabí and contributing to a circular economy.
