סיכום:The prolonged period of unproductivity caused by the postpartum anoestrus, associated with the suckling period, has been one of the main problems in the livestock sector. To find the effect of suckling interruption on ovarian cyclical activity, we selected 18 zebu cows at between 90-120 days postpartum, anestric during the suckling period, and average age 6.73 ± 1.17 years. Cows were randomly assigned to two groups: separated from the calf for 72 (T1) and 96 (T2) hours. In this study, the variables were: heat and ovulation. Zeal observation was performed three times a day from the time of suckling interruption to 15 days postpartum, similar to ovulation detection through an ultrasound scanner. The results obtained from T1, before and after 72 hours, were: 27.78 and 22.22% of cows in heat, respectively. Whereas, with T2, 16.67 % of the cows were in heat after treatment, and 22.22% after 96 hours. From the analysis, we concluded that after suckling interruption for 72 hours, 38.89% of cows had a heat period and 11.11% did not ovulate. In contrast, suckling interruption for 96 hours showed that 27.78% of cows ovulated, and 22.22% did not ovulate. We concluded that suckling interruption from 72 and 96 hours caused a reactivation of the estrous cycle in zebu cows
