Özet:We carried out field experiments during the 2013 dry period, in Jipijapa, Bolívar and Santa Ana (Manabí-Ecuador) to find the effect of fertilization using N, supplemented with other nutrients deficient in the soil, for determining the optimum nitrogen dose (OND), based on agronomic efficiency calculations (AE), of the maize hybrid INIAP H-603. We used 0-100-150-200 y 250 kg/N.ha-1, with and without supplementary fertilization [two applications of Biol fertilizer and 50 kg.ha-1 of minor nutrients II (Zn 4%, Mn 2.5%, Cu 1%, B2O3 1.5%, and S 5%)]. Maize yield was positively affected by fertilization with N and other nutrients. Correlation analysis showed that over 99% of the increase was caused by the fertilization with N. The increase in yield with the highest levels (200 and 250 kg/N.ha-1) confirmed that a genetically-improved plant material requires high levels of nutrients to achieve its yield potential. For this reason, from the analysis of OND, we found that the optimum dose was 200 kg/N.ha-1, after considering the existing AE.
