الملخص: | The research aimed to "Determine the lifestyles of hypertensive patients and adherence to treatment at the SSC Steps Dispensary. December 2022-April 2023". The methodology applied was descriptive, field, applied, cross-sectional with quantitative approach. A validated closed Likert-type scale survey was used, the study population was 43 patients of which 36 participated, the rest dropped out of the study for no unknown reason. As a result, it was found that most of the hypertensive patients eat three meals a day constantly and receive occasional help from their families. They have a diet rich in fiber, protein and vitamins, they also consume foods high in fats and chemicals in large proportions. Most patients do not engage in physical activity, and only a small percentage seek information about their disease from health professionals. Patients face difficulties in attending the clinic and obtaining medications due to the distance from their homes, lack of economic resources, living alone, and because of their advanced age they do not work. Lack of adherence to treatment is related to factors such as forgetting to take medication, salt consumption, failure to keep scheduled appointments, lack of home visits, abandoning treatment when they feel well and only taking when they feel ill. An educational guide for patients with hypertension and adherence to treatment was designed and disseminated. Key words: Adherence to treatment, Lifestyle, Hypertension |
