La naranja (Citrus sinensis) tiene origen en Asia y se extendió por todo el Pacífico hasta las zonas cálidas del mundo. La naranja es el cítrico con mayores cultivos en el mundo, el zumo de la naranja tiene el mayor contenido de vitamina C, también está compuesto de flavonoides, aceites esenciales, grandes cantidades de azúcares y algunos minerales. En el Ecuador la naranja es el cítrico con mayor producción, teniendo como capital citrícola a la provincia de Bolívar ya que ahí se procede la mayor cantidad de cosechas anuales. Mediante el tamizaje fitoquímico se determinaron los diferentes metabolitos secundarios que están presentes en la naranja en extracto acuoso. Para determinar la cantidad de polifenoles totales mediante el método de Folin-Ciocalteu y la actividad antioxidante median el método de DPPH.The objective of this work is to determine the amount of total polyphenols and the antioxidant activity in the pulp of Citrus sinensis by means of the aqueous extract. The orange (Citrus sinensis) originates from Asia and extends throughout the Pacific to the warm areas of the world. The orange is the citrus with the largest crops in the world, orange juice has the highest content of vitamin C, also this compound of flavonoids, essential oils, large amounts of sugars and some minerals. In Ecuador, the orange is the citrus with the highest production, having the province of Bolívar as the citrus capital, since the largest number of annual crops is produced there. Through phytochemical screening, the different secondary metabolites that are present in the orange in aqueous extract were determined. To determine the amount of total polyphenols by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and the antioxidant activity by the DPPH method.Universidad de Guayaquil.
