Gaia:The main objective of this research was to design a methodological proposal to develop Skills with Performance Criteria in the subject of Social Studies in 8th grade E.G.B., based on the principles of meaningful learning. The importance of this project resides in the need for teachers to align the skills of the educational curriculum with the needs and interests of the students through methodological approaches inspired by meaningful learning to improve the teaching-learning processes and promote a transformative education. The research adopted a mixed practice, with a descriptive approach that wanted to understand the characteristics and behaviors of the phenomena studied in a specific context. Deductive and analytical methods were used, and survey techniques were applied to 69 eighth-grade E.G.B. students belonging to the "Unidad Educativa Camilo Gallegos Toledo," as well as an interview with a Social Studies teacher. The study's results revealed that there needs to be more planning to deal with the skills with performance criteria. It has led to students needing to improve their learning. It was concluded that these deficiencies are due, in part, to the lack of knowledge of the mental processes necessary to work with students effectively, as well as the lack of application of specific methods for teaching Social Studies and the principles of meaningful learning, which are fundamental for students to construct their knowledge. To conclude, a methodological guide model was designed to respond to this problem.
