Summary: | This paper analyzes the consonant variations in the speech of bilingual students of Spanish and Quichua of the Pedagogy of Language and Literature career at UNACH. With a mixed approach, since the frequency of phoneme changes was counted, but at the same time, non-numerical data associated with the student's bilingual traits were analyzed. The research is descriptive and cross-sectional; analytical-synthetic, deductive-inductive and hypothetical-deductive methods were used to identify phonetic interference. Using the PRAAT tool, the acoustic characteristics of the speech of five Spanish-Kichwa bilingual students of the Pedagogy of Language and Literature program at the National University of Chimborazo were analyzed, highlighting phonological interference patterns, such as bilabial-fricative, dental-fricative and velar-nasal, as well as vowel changes between “e-i” and “o-u”. It is concluded that the most frequent interferences correspond to bilabial, dental and velar articulation points, with fricative and nasal modes. These interferences reflect the influence of Quichua on the speakers' Spanish and are evidenced in varying percentages according to the interviews conducted. The importance of the mother tongue as an element of identity and education is emphasized. It is recommended to integrate the use of Kichwa in the educational processes, to carry out specific pedagogical activities to improve pronunciation and to take advantage of technological tools such as PRAAT in linguistic research. |
