סיכום:This research addressed the issue of deficit attention and Reading comprehension in the Riobamba Educational Unit, which aimed to determine the relationship between attention deficit and reading comprehension in students in the sixth year of primary general education. Attention is a cognitive - psychological process necessary for the processing of information; this allows us to perform any activity, and reading comprehension enables us to understand the meaning of a text. This research had a quantitative approach and non-experimental design. Because of its level and scope, it is descriptive and correlational. For the primary objectives, for the field is local and for the type of cross-sectional study, with a sample of 111 students ( 50 boys and 61 women) of the sixth year of basic general education parallel “ A”, “B” and “C”. The instruments for data collection were psychometric tests; test D2 by Rolf Brickenkamp (1962) for the independent variable and the Josep Toro literacy analysis test for the dependent variable; Together with other resources such as the SPSS statistics 23 program for data analysis, it was found that there is a correlation between attention deficit and reading comprehension variables, In the investigation, it was determined that the more attention there is, the higher the level of reading comprehension the students will possess.
