Izvleček:Without a doubt, we affirm that mathematics employs methods of reasoning, which provide rules and techniques to assert whether or not a given argument is valid, through the implementation and use of a theoretical-practical context, which is supported by A methodology of teaching more active and interesting, through its conclusion will result in a better performance and learning of students. The present research work denominated mathematical reasoning and its relation to the academic performance in student of tenth year “A”, “B”, “C”, “E” of basic education of the educational institution called “Isabel de Godin”, located in Riobamba in the teaching – learning process, to determine the relation that exists with the academic performance, through the application of said exercises of reasoning in the teaching – learning of the Mathematics, which serves to improve the ability to reason, think, speak, say what you think and feel, in this way improve the quality of education. The model used in the research was socio – critical with a qualitative perspective, the research is of the exploratory type. The study population applied the data collection methodology, which consisted of different actors: teachers and students with a total of 141 people, the reliability of the instruments was elaborated in the Excel program, through statistical tables. The technique used is a field investigation and the survey and the written test were applied with its instruments, the questionnaire and the test or test, by means of which the two variables are clearly shown, the socio-educational modality with intervention proposal, with a documentary, bibliographic and field research
