Summary:Chapter I, called the Referential Framework, contains the introduction, approach to the problem and the general and specific objectives of the research. Chapter II develops the Theoretical Framework for Research, which studies clearly the theoretical sources that support the study of financial intermediation and economic growth. It begins with a summary of the state of the art, definitions, characteristics and importance of financial intermediation. The second part analyzes the elements that sustain the growth of a country, through GDP. Chapter III, Methodological Framework, establishes the method, type and design used in the research. In the part of the analysis of the results an evaluation of the main financial variables of Ecuador is realized: credit, assets, liabilities, as well as the evolution of GDP and GDP per capita. In a second part, the analysis of the results obtained in the investigation is carried out, based on statistical information obtained from the Superintendency of Banks and Insurance and the Central Bank of Ecuador. This chapter ends with the elaboration and analysis of the econometric model MCO, and its results. Chapter IV, It establishes the conclusions reached with the present investigation and also the respective recommendations.
