Sumari:This research work departed from the problem experienced in the Educational Unit "Riobamba", being this the lack of knowledge and activities that the children possess in the phonological awareness, for this is departed from the general objective that is to determine the influence of literacy on the development of the phonological awareness in children of 5 years of the Educational Unit "Riobamba". To verify this information we departed from a theory that focuses on the two variables of study: The Literacy and phonological awareness. This project began as a non-experimental research design, and its type of field and it was researched in the place of the facts. Taking as a population to 25 units in the first year of Basic Education, this universe will be a support to highlight the statistical sample, using as technical observation and as an instrument the tab of observation with 8 items of multiple selections. Finally, these determine that the literacy influences the development of the phonological awareness.
