Riassunto:Students with difficulties in the development of communication, fluency in spiking, articulation, low pronunciation, and vocabulary was determined in the institution; The main objective of the present research was to determine the influence of the verbal language on school performance in the First Year of Basic Education, at Educational Unit “Camilo Gallegos Toledo”, course “A” in Riobamba, province of Chimborazo, period 2015-2016. It is necessary to know what are the causes that children go through when they don´t have an adequate verbal expression, and at the same time to be able to understand how verbal language intervenes in the student´s academic performance. The methodological framework is composed of the scientific method, through the deductive-inductive, analytic-synthetic process; This research has a qualitative, non-experimental approach; Type of research, exploratory-descriptive, field-bibliographic; Type of study, transversal; Level of research, exploratory-descriptive; We worked with a population of 35 students, no sample was used; techniques and instruments were used; such as the survey, the test of sound articulation test, the questionnaire for date collection; The tabulation was subsequently performed with its relevant analysis and interpretation to determine if the presence of verbal language influences school performance. It also proposed methodological activities to develop verbal language in children, the same that will be applied to students and develop in the school period, and at the same time optimize the processes of verbal teaching. Conclusions and recommendations were also finalized the research work with the bibliography and annexes.
