Résumé:This research analyzes the socioeconomic transformations that have arisen in the indigenous communities of Licto parish, during the period 1990-2018, under a rural development approach. The methodology was qualitative, bibliographic and field type, since the interview technique applied to the population, leaders and active participants in the execution of the projects. Thus, this research begins with theoretical foundations, followed by the description of deficiencies, needs and abuses suffered by the population of said parish, before the nineties; Likewise, the strategies for overcoming poverty adopted by the communities exposed, through the execution of the Guargualla-Licto project and the purchase of land, through a process of collective articulation between communities, national and international organizations, being the mingas the highest representation of community work. The study revealed that, thanks to the implementation of the irrigation system and access to land, the indigenous and peasant population of Licto had a significant development, changing their way of life, presenting evident transformations in education, health, housing, economic activity and migration; in the same way, it evidenced that agricultural production is the main economic activity of the communities.
