Description
Summary:The project entitled "Ethnographic study on the food customs and preparations of the Tunibamba Bellavista community in the Cotacachi canton of the province of Imbabura", has the general objective of strengthening the food customs of this community through an ethnographic study. A qualitative descriptive methodology was used, by compiling information through the application of surveys and interviews. The population with which we worked in the research was the total of 244 inhabitants of the community corresponding to the Economically active population (EAP), because it is a finite population. The study reveals the importance of intergenerational transmission of knowledge and highlights solidarity and cooperation as fundamental values in food preparation. It also underlines the impact of modernity on the decline in the consumption of traditional preparations among young people. The gastronomic proposal developed in the project seeks not only to preserve these practices, but also to promote them as a tourist attraction, integrating gastronomic wealth with sustainable tourism strategies. This integrated approach will not only contribute to the economic development of the community, but will also ensure the conservation of its cultural heritage.
