Sumario:To ensure equality in rights and protections, it is essential to adapt current regulations, prevent legal conflicts and promote education about these rights. This study examines the legal-family consequences of equal marriage in the Ecuadorian notarial seat, using qualitative methods such as the analysis of doctrinal and jurisprudential documents, comparative law and the descriptive approach to characterize the legal institution in question. Although equal marriage in Ecuador has made significant progress, it still faces structural barriers that prevent its complete equality with heterosexual marriage. The legalization of equal marriage is an important step, but it is insufficient without comprehensive regulatory reform that eliminates persistent inequalities. Equal marriage not only has a legal dimension, but also a symbolic value that challenges traditional social stereotypes. To advance towards real equality, it is necessary to implement a constitutional reform, as well as increase political will and media visibility. Despite the positive contribution of notaries in the formalization of de facto unions, their limited capacity to celebrate marriages shows the restrictions that still prevent full equality. Therefore, it is crucial to continue working on adapting regulations and promoting equality to ensure that the legal framework reflects the constitutional principles of equality.
