Sumario:This study aims to identify the main benefits and adverse effects of subdermal implants in users treated at the University Hospital Motupe city of Loja. The study is cross-descriptive, as the universe a female population of childbearing age, consisting of 86 sexually active users who are insert subdermal implant for birth control in the period April-September 2013 For the study we applied a survey made by the researchers and data were obtained on the major benefits and adverse effects related to the use of subdermal contraceptive implants. Upon completion of the investigation was obtained: the average age of the study group is 21.5 years, finding that the main benefits were secure method (39.5%), postponing pregnancy (36.1%) and convenience (13.9%). Also 58.1% of users present adverse effects, the most prevalent: menstrual disorders (25.6%), headache (17.4%) and acne (10.5%). It also presents an effectiveness of 100% with a Pearl index of 0, with a high degree of satisfaction (95.4%).
