总结:The present research paper called INFECTION OF URINARY WAYS AS A CAUSE OF THREAT OF PRETERMAL BIRTH. This is a quantitative, descriptive, retrospective and correlational study of all the clinical histories of the patients who presented threat of preterm birth attended at the Hospital San Vicente de Paul del Canton Passage in the period January – June 2016 whose objectives were: to establish the relationship of urinary tract infection and threat of preterm labor, to identify the most frequent gestacional age of urinary tract infection, to determine the prevalence of threat of preterm birth and to establish the chronological age of the patients in which the preterm birth threat is presented. The analyzed universe consisted of 70 pregnant women diagnosed with preterm labor threat and a sample of 60 pregnant women which presented a threat of preterm labor and urinary tract infection, meeting the inclusion criteria. While the data was captured in a data collection sheet created by the author. By means of this study the following results were obtained: 85.7% of hospitalized patients presented a threat of preterm birth and a picture of urinary tract infection; In addition, the gestational age in which it was most frequently present was between 31-36.6 weeks of gestation and 83.4% presented urinary tract infection. Also, it was determined the prevalence of the threat of preterm labor threat was between 15 and 20 years, which corresponds to 63.4% of adolescent pregnant women. It is concluded that the infection of the urinary tract is closely related to the threat of preterm birth. Key words: Urinary tract infection; preterm labor threat.
