description This action research study focused on the improvement English vocabulary with the use of cartoons of thirty five seventh-B year students at “Ciudad de Loja” public school. Seven sessions were carried out to improve the skill using the Cartoons. Researcher’s-made tests and questionnaires were used to measure the students’ progress and perception on Cartoons. Field diaries were also used every session to observe and measure the students’progreess. The results indicated that the use of Cartoons facilitated meaningfully the improvement of vocabulary in English which was reflected in the noticeable increasing of the posttest scores and students’ progress during the intervention. The answers received from the questionnaires also confirmed the enthusiasm and the positive attitude to working with Cartoons. To conclude, this study helped the students to their knowledge of vocabulary in English and to the researcher to his teachings skills.

Siete sesiones se aplicaron para mejorar la destreza usando dibujos animados en inglés. Para medir el progreso y percepción del uso de dibujos animados se utilizaron pruebas y cuestionarios desarrollados por el investigador. Los diarios de campo fueron desarrollados para observar y medir el progreso de los estudiantes. Los resultados indicaron que los dibujos animados facilitaron el mejoramiento significativo del vocabulario en inglés reflejado en el incremento de las calificaciones de las Post-Pruebas y progreso de los estudiantes durante la intervención. Las respuestas recibidas de los cuestionarios confirmaron el entusiasmo para trabajar con dibujos animados.
