الملخص:According to the World Health Organization burned 15 million premature infants annually, 40-50% of these births are associated with premature rupture of membranes, whose etiology is often associated with genitourinary infections. the objective demonstrate if the genitourinary infections act as early indicators of premature rupture of membranes and their influence on preterm birth. It is a quantitative descriptive, prospective and longitudinal study. It was realized in patients with genitourinary infection confirmed by laboratory and gestational age greater than 28 weeks; and they were treated at Gynecology and Obstetrics service of Isidro Ayora Hospital in the Loja city from February to May 2014 year. Were obtained 60 patients, were revised their medical records for verifying laboratory results and prove them, those weren’t receiving any antibiotic therapy prior to admission. We monitored some patients for each two weeks through home telephone calls and visits until delivery. Statistical analysis was done using Microsoft Excel and SPSS Stastics22 program. Participated 60 patients with genitourinary infections verified by laboratory. 49 patients had premature rupture of membranes and 20 them had preterm delivery. genitourinary infections are early indicators for premature rupture of membranes and are responsible of 41% preterm deliveries.
