| Resumo: | This research paper entitled: METACOGNITION AS A METHODOLOGICAL STRATEGY USED BY TEACHERS TO IMPROVE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN THE AREA OF MATH OF SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MUNICIPAL EDUCATIONAL UNIT "CENEPA HEROES" PARISH OF SAN SEBASTIAN CANTON LOJA PROVINCE, SCHOOL PERIOD 2013- 2014, with the general objective of determining metacognitive strategies require teachers to improve student achievement; to conduct this research the following methods were used: descriptive and analytic-synthetic, same that were used throughout the research process, also, the techniques employed as a teacher questionnaire and survey, pretest and posttest to students; same that were used to obtain information on the difficulties related to the subject, the population consisted of 36 children and a teacher. After processing the information it can be established that the teacher does not know metacognitive strategies, making their classes in the area of mathematics a little boring and exhausting, which harms and damages in the interest of students to learn this stuff in case the considered difficult, reason underperforming evidence of their students due to lack of interest in this subject, which does not allow this matter to relate with others, this lack of support from parents and lack joins the domain basic operations of logical reasoning. It is concluded that the inclusion of metacognitive strategies in the classroom improves academic performance of students. |
