Description
Summary:Since phonological awareness is the ability to separate elements of oral language especially in children, this study allowed us to fulfill the general objective of determining how verbal games can strengthen phonological awareness in primary schoolers at Miguel Riofrío School. A quasi-experimental design was used since a moderate intervention of the independent variable (verbal games) was conducted so as not to cause any alteration and to observe its effectiveness in the dependent variable (phonological awareness. In addition, the inductive-deductive method was used, which contributed to synthesize the information for the conclusions that emerged from the research, and the analytical-synthetic method was used for the construction of the theoretical framework. On the other hand, the instrument used was the PECO Test (Test for the Evaluation of Phonological Knowledge) applied to twenty-six children from 5 to 6 years old, showing that the children present difficulty in the development of phonological awareness with 91% in tasks of identification, addition and phonetic and syllabic omission, after carrying out the intervention with the activity guide based on verbal games and when applying the post-test it was proved that 87% of the children reached a high and very high level in the different tasks of phonological awareness. To conclude, ti is confirmed that verbal games have a positive effect on phonological awareness, improving their fluency and articulation of words so that they can acquire a better understanding of language. Key words: auditory awareness, dexterity, word games, spoken language, pronunciation.
