Summary:The gestation and the nursing are periods of great demand and vulnerability from the nutritional point of view; the required quantities of energy, proteins and other nutrients rise, with the purpose of not only assisting the process of growth and fetal development, but also the structural and metabolic maternal changes that accompany this processes; therefore, the pregnant woman and mother in period of nursing, it should improve the quality of their feeding. (MSP 2010). Presently study was investigated 54 pregnant women and in period of nursing that you/they went to Subcentro of health Red" "Lands of the citadel "Victor Emilio Valdivieso" located to the west of the city Loja, during November of the 2012 to April of the 2013; the objectives of the study were: to identify knowledge has more than enough feeding in these periods; to describe that foods consume with more frequency this group of women; and, starting from these results you executes a plan of educational activities related with the feeding during the pregnancy and the period of nursing. The obtained results were organized and they tabulated in a manual way to facilitate the analysis; and they point out that 40.7% and 25.9% of women in period of nursing and pregnant respectively, they feed from three to four times per day. One could also know that the foods that with more frequency the pregnant women consume and in period of nursing they are of the group of the cereals, with 40,7% and 48,1% respectively, being a small group the one that consumes foods regulators and formadores.
