總結:Personality traits are behavior patterns that specify an individual and persist throughout life, with certain traits predisposing to the development of depression. The purpose of this research was to characterize personality, identify the degree of depression according to age group and gender, and establish the correlation between both variables in the Administrative Staff of the National University of Loja. The study employed a quantitative cross-sectional approach, with a sample of 121 participants who were administered the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). The results revealed that 71.90% (n=87) exhibited low Neuroticism, 64.46% (n=78) had low Psychoticism, and 63.63% (n=77) had high Extraversion. In terms of depression assessment, a low level was predominant at 85.12% (n=103), followed by a mild level at 9.91% (n=12), while 3.30% (n=4) exhibited a moderate level, and 1.65% (n=2) had a severe level. By correlating the two variables using Pearson's correlation coefficient through SPSS, it was determined that they were independent of each other, with an r value of 0.027 for Neuroticism and 0.018 for Extraversion and Psychoticism. These findings demonstrate that no personality trait is associated with the tendency to develop depression
