The present study/investigation is aimed to determine the risk factors related to premature birth in the Basic Hospital of San Vicente de Paul from Pasaje canton, period march-august, 2017: specifically, to determine the incidence of premature birth threat, to identify the most affected age group, to identify the major risk factors related to premature birth threat and to socialize an educational program on prevention of prevention of birth threat in pregnant patients/women. The type of study is retrospective, descriptive, quantitative, and has a transversal cut with a universe of 896 patients hospitalized in the area of Gynecology and obstetrics from which 91 met the inclusion criteria; Data collection tokens were used as an instrument from clinical histories of patients who were hospitalized with a diagnosis of premature birth threat. It was determined that: the incidence of premature delivery is a 27.2%, the age group with the most affected pregnant women is between 16 and 25 years of age with a 57.1% and the main risk factors related to the risk of premature birth are urinary tract infections with a 47% and vaginal infections with a 25%.
