Description
Summary:This research work analyzes the discourse of the children's series PJ Masks: Heroes in pajamas, the objective of our study is to determine the visual and linguistic resources used in the construction of messages. This analysis allowed us to recognize the recurrent discursive characteristics in each episode, regarding the language used and the elements of visual semiotics, which achieve a positive response from the children's audience. A qualitative methodology was proposed through observation cards and discourse analysis, and the linguistic and graphic characteristics present in two seasons were identified. In the series we recognize a simple language, words and phrases of up to three words that are repeated in all episodes. In each episode, the message revolves around a problem that one of the heroes must face, the conflicts they create and how he overcomes them with the support of his friends. We worked on the basis of two independent observation sheets, one for semiotic analysis: scenery, costumes, color, framing and camera movements; and a second one to analyze the discourse: key words and phrases, text and lexicon used. The discursive strategies used respond to a series of messages that seek to reinforce values in children, through a formula of continuous repetition of a message, changing the negative to the positive. At a semiotic level, saturated and intense colors, unique locations and symbols that identify each character, each hero has a color and a symbol according to their vehicles and accessories, this allows children to identify them immediately. The phrases that represent them are short and related to their abilities. The message of each chapter intertwines: stopping the villain and overcoming a personal conflict of each hero
