সংক্ষিপ্ত:This research is entitled "PSYCHOPEDAGOGICAL INTERVENTION TO STRENGTHEN READING UNDERSTANDING IN STUDENTS OF THE FIFTH GRADE OF BASIC EDUCATION OF THE SANTA MARIANA DE JESÚS EDUCATIONAL UNIT", had as objective: To propose a program of psychopedagogical intervention to strengthen reading comprehension in students. The sustenance of the above mentioned investigation, has been initiated from the theoretical bases of the reading as the Constructivist theory, the Linguistic and functionalist Pragmatics, which determine in a certain way how the student acquires, learns, develops and strengthens the reading and at the same time the reading comprehension, being understood as a process in which the text and the reader interact, who gives meaning to what is in the text, for that reason it was a quantitative investigation, of descriptive explanatory type; Non-experimental design with a transversal cut; the selection method was given by non-probabilistic sampling, taking into account which year presented the greatest difficulties in reading comprehension. The scientific method was used, making use of instruments such as a survey and the application of the Battery of Evaluation of the Reading Processes. For the reason that gives a greater reliability at the time of showing results, allowing a direct analysis. In order to contrast the existence of the problem in reading comprehension and relating it to the literature researched. Thus, it is possible to identify problems in reading comprehension at an intermediate level in the different processes; identification of letters, lexical processes, syntactic processes, and semantic processes. The scenario of the investigation was in the Private Educational Unit "Santa Mariana de Jesús", students of the fifth grade of basic education.
