要約:The Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L) fine aroma has experienced a growing demand , however, low yields are recorded in Ecuador, due to the lack of knowledge of efficient agronomic practices, one of which is the influence of shade on the crop, since its use can vary according to the climatic conditions of the place where it is grown. For this reason, the incidence of shade on mor-physiological parameters in the initial growth of cocoa (Theobroma cacao L) clone EETP801 was evaluated. The trial was carried out at the experimental station "El Padmi", located in the province of Zamora Chinchipe. It was established under a completely randomized design, under three levels of shade, at 0%, 35% and 80%, with six replications. The variables evaluated were plant height, trunk cross-sectional area, shoot length, length and number of metameres, shoot leaf area, leaf area index, stomatal density, chlorophyll content and leaf nutritional content. In addition, soil pH and electrical conductivity were measured. The effect of the treatments on the dependent variables was evaluated by ANOVA and means test (Tukey) (p=0.05). The results show that for most of the variables there were no significant differences between treatments. However, the full light treatment allowed taller plants to be obtained and the 80% shade treatment favored the increase in chlorophyll, A, B, total, and variations in soil pH at days 144 and 164, presenting the lowest means of 5.24 and 4.96 with respect to the full light and 35% shade treatments. In general, the results of this work show that the use of shade does not show a significant effect on the morphological and growth characteristics in the early stage of clone EETP 801, which would indicate that in this area and under these climatic conditions it would not be necessary to implement shade in early stages of cultivation. Key words: , incident solar radiation, early growth.
